Adult League Section Championships Begin Friday

Adult League Section Championships kick-off Friday at three locations in Middle States.
Teams from one of the nation’s most popular sports leagues will compete in New Jersey this weekend, but don’t expect to hear much talk about signing bonuses, contracts, drama with coaches or long-term TV rights.

Beginning on Friday morning at three sites throughout New Jersey, 60 teams will participate in the USTA League Middle States Section Championships, with the winning teams earning a chance to compete for the USTA League National Championships, which take place in California and Arizona. Several teams are making the trip all the way from Pittsburgh to participate, as squads from six varying skill levels look to take the Middle States Section title.

The sites hosting the 2012 Section Championships are Princeton University, Veteran’s Park and Mercer County Park.

USTA League, the country’s largest recreational tennis league, has more than 330,000 players nationwide competing in match play, meeting new people and enjoying the team aspect of the game.

Photos and other coverage of the weekend will be available at www.PlayTennisWithUs.com, as well as on the Middle States Facebook page. Photos of the championship teams will be posted Monday following Sunday’s finals.
