The first weekend of the 2008 PIAA Girls' Tennis Championships presented by USTA Middle States featured the Commonwealth’s top interscholastic tennis teams in a talent-rich field at the Hershey Racquet Club (HRC), October 24-25. Just as the boys' championship played-out in the spring, powerhouse programs from opposite corners of the state took home the titles.
One team surely deserving of the powerhouse moniker are the Harriton Rams of Rosemont, Pa., who captured their fifth-consecutive girls' PIAA AA state tennis championship in impressive fashion.
The Rams handed District 3 champion Holy Name High School of Reading, Pa., its first defeat of the season with a convincing 5-0 victory in Saturday's final. Casey Robinson, who did not drop a set in the state playoffs is one of the top players in USTA Middle States. She kicked-off the finals victory with a stellar win at first singles.

In the semifinals, NA handed Allentown's Parkland High School their first defeat of the year 3-2, after the powerful Tigers defaulted the last two matches after winning the first three in convincing fashion.
