Middle States Adult Information

Adult tournaments give you the opportunity to get “out of the box.” You don’t need to sign up for a team at a club in order to play great competitive tennis. Forget those costly club membership fees and become the “weekend warrior” you always dreamed of becoming.

Travel with folks from your hometown, and meet new friends who love to play tennis from all over Middle States. By participating in adult tournaments, you’ll have the opportunity to mix and mingle with people you would normally not meet in your town. MS maintains one of the most diverse tournament schedules in the country.

Adult tournaments are broken down into five general categories.

NTRP (National Tennis Rating Program) tournaments offer players the ability to play tournaments at their appropriate rating level. Most MS NTRP tournaments offer all available NTRP levels from 2.5-5.5. These tournaments are grouped by level to provide the player with a competitive but comfortable opportunity to compete with others.

OPEN TOURNAMENTS are just that… Open! Players of all ability, all ages can play in Open events though the category is considered the toughest of all adult tournaments. In the Open category, play against former and current pros, teaching professional, former and current collegiate and top ranked junior players. But don’t worry, you’ll find a lot of NTRP players participating to quench their competitive thirst.

SENIOR TOURNAMENTS are offered similar to Open tournaments, open to all levels, but broken down by age division starting at age 30 through 90. Senior tournaments offer players the ability to work towards a national ranking. There are several national senior tournaments in Middle States.

WHEELCHAIR TOURNAMENTS are offered several times during the year. Singles, doubles and quadriplegic divisions are offered, divided into a variety of ability levels. Wheelchair tournaments are exciting to play and the athletes are inspiring to watch.

FAMILY TOURNAMENTS allow you to grab your child or your parent and illustrate that tennis is truly a family sport. Mother/son/daughter or father /daughter/son divisions are offered. Ten family tournaments are usually scheduled per year, usually offered in conjunction with an NTRP or junior tournament.
