The United States Tennis Association (USTA) Middle States (MS) section is looking for Marketing Interns who have an interest in Web Design as well as fine tuning their advertising and sponsorship skills. Interns in this unpaid position work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications, Communications Coordinator and Marketing Manager to help develop and execute communications, advertising and marketing initiatives and projects. Interns have the opportunity to be exposed to all areas of the marketing of tennis and USTA MS, including print and web advertising, promotional campaigns, event planning and execution, research, and the creative process.
Main Responsibilities:
Maintain content on section Web site
Copy-edit and proofread
Solicit advertisements for yearbook, magazine and Web site
Assist with and writing of news or feature stories, including conducting interviews and taking photographs.
Create PowerPoint or other visual presentations
Contribute to the design and creation of marketing materials
Database management
Assist with event planning
Interact with the public by working USTA MS sponsored or sanctioned events
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Current enrollment in a college or university
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong interpersonal communications skills
Computer experience in Microsoft Office platform, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook
Desktop publishing experience, Adobe InDesign and/or Microsoft Publisher
Strong editing skills
Ability to keep deadlines and handle tasks responsibility
Ability to work independently
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to daily changing tasks
Interest in, and knowledge of, one or more of the following fields: journalism, mass communications, media management, marketing, advertising, public relations, publishing and sports management.
Duration/Compensation:
Candidate must be available for at least 18 hours per week, for a 12-week period.*
Candidate must be available to work weekend events when needed.
Candidate must have a valid driving license and reliable transportation.
This is an unpaid internship. USTA Middle States will work with the college or university to provide course credit.
*Hours per week and duration of internship are negotiable, for the right candidate, based on student's needs.
