Sectional Training Center Initiative
RTC_2015

Registration is now open for players born 2003 - 2006 to be considered for the Sectional Training Center. This is a selection process. Three years into the USTA Regional Training Center initiative, USTA Player Development has created a structure that is identifying and communicating with the country's best programs and coaches. This is an opportunity for the USTA Middle States Section to customize a Sectional Training Center (STC) similar to USTA Regional Training Center programs to fit the specific needs of our local players.

Our goal is to leverage our network of USTA National Faculty coaches, our Section high performance coaches, and our players to facilitate a STC program. During STCs, young players born 2003 - 2006 will be invited to train and compete at the STC designated for their specific Region. The STC Initiative will combine the Delaware District (DD), New Jersey District (NJD), Philadelphia Area Tennis District (PATD), Eastern Pennsylvania District (EPD) and Central Pennsylvania District (CPD). The Allegheny Mountain District (AMD) will have its own STC.

National Faculty Coaches from USTA Player Development will be in attendance to identify and evaluate the most promising young players within our Section.

Selections will be based on birth year, ranking and input received from our Section Coaches Commission. At young ages, we realize that these criteria are dependent upon fluctuating stages of maturity, growth and physiological development. Space is limited, and if players are not selected for the STC, we encourage them to continue to work and develop their game for the long haul. Players who show marked improvement will increase their probability of being accepted in the future.

The cost for the STC is $100.

If you would like to be considered for selection into the STC, you must register online prior to Monday, November 2, 2015. It is important that you use the registration link associated with your Region, similar to registering for a tournament or Zonal team. If you are selected, your credit card will be charged a non-refundable $100 plus the TennisLink processing fee. The balance of $250 will be due before the first day of STC. Training consists of four (4) sessions that will run rain or shine, with no make-up dates or refunds. If you are unable to commit to at least three (3) Saturdays of training, please do not apply.

We are extremely happy to offer you this opportunity. We expect the players invited to be prepared, compete hard, and display exemplary behavior.

Once you are selected, you will be sent an email confirmation of your acceptance and be asked to provide additional information about yourself and your personal coach. Personal coaches are invited to attend an orientation presentation at the beginning of the STC. (Please note that the coaches’ orientation is for those whose profession is teaching tennis. Parents who coach their children, but are not coaches by profession, are not invited to attend. You'll also be asked to provide additional information about your recent areas of developmental focus.

If you have additional questions, please contact Seth Walrath, Junior Development Program Coordinator, at walrath@ms.usta.com.
