Level 3 Section Champions Crowned in 12s and 16s

The USTA Middle States Level 3 Sectional Championships continued this weekend as the section’s best 16-year-olds and 12-year-olds competed set courts a blaze. The competition was tough, but Michael Zhu, Tessa Lyons, Ricardo Saad, and Kylie Isaacs showcased dynamic skills and unreal talent en route to singles gold.

The Heat is On at Level 3 Sectional Championships

This weekend kicked off the start of the USTA Middle States Level 3 Sectional Championships with the section’s top 18-year-olds and 14-year-olds bringing their best games to the court. Garden-staters, Caryssa Peretz, Michael Zu, Annie Dimuro and Corey Robinson showed off their skills and came out on top in singles play.

Dimuro Strikes Gold at National Event

Little Mo Sectionals Coming to NJ

The finest junior tennis players from Middle States are expected to participate in this year’s “Little Mo” Middle States Sectional Tennis Tournament to be held at the River Country Club in Cinnaminson, N.J. The tournament will be held May 24-26, 2008 and will feature events for boys and girls aged 8, 9, 10, 11 & under.

Watt stays on roll!

While the 12s and 14s were competing in Tucson, the 16s and 18s filled the courts in Scottsdale, Ariz., at the USTA Winter National Championships. The section was well represented in each division with the highest finish coming from Pittsburgh native and Notre Dame signee Casey Watt who finished third in singles and fourth in doubles.

USTA Announces Change in Junior Ranking System for 2008!

The USTA has approved a change in the ranking system for juniors that will take effect on January 1, 2008. In 2008, the USTA will no longer publish individual singles and doubles standings and rankings. Instead, the USTA will publish a combined ranking, which includes results from singles and doubles

Bridget Forster wins Girls' 10 Title at "Little Mo" Nationals

Bridget Forster (Lebanon, Pa.) was a recent victor at the prestigious "Little Mo" Nationals, held Oct. 20-22 at the Austin Tennis Academy in Austin, Texas. Widely regarded as one of the top national non-sanctioned events for tennis players under 12 years of age, the "Little Mo" Nationals featured six players from USTA Middle States.

Competition Training Centers

Competition Training Centers (CTCs) are designed to bring top players and coaches together to train during the year. The centers serve as a training site for 16-20 of the best players within an established geographic region divided by districts. The CTCs provide the players a chance to work on their games while receiving coaching tips.

New Jersey junior wins International tournament

While the world was focused on the US Open Qualifying round, 32 boys from all over the world competed at the 2007 U.S. Junior International Hard Court Championship at The Atlantic Club in Manasquan, N.J., August 20-24. The winner, 17-year-old David Holland, from Pennington, N.J., however is no stranger to the big stage.
