Entering a Tournament

1. You can enter online if a tournament has a Tennis Link “Register Now” logo next to it or if the tournament does not offer online registration you can get a standard entry form by going to www.middlestates.usta.com , on the drop down menu under juniors click “Players info” and go to “Tournament entry form”.  You are limited to entering one singles event and one doubles event. When entering doubles online you must enter your doubles partners USTA#.


2. Players competing in USTA MS sanctioned events are expected to comply with The Code of the USTA and to avoid acts that are detrimental to the game of tennis. It is a player's responsibility to know and understand the rules of tennis. It is also the player’s responsibility to know and understand these Rules and Regulations.


3. No junior player may enter more than one (1) USTA sanctioned tournament and/or (1) ITF sanctioned tournament when the scheduled dates overlap unless the player or parent has received written permission to do so from both tournament directors.


4. DR-District Tournaments-priority of entry is given to players, who live in the District of the tournament, followed by players living in the USTA MS Section and then all other USTA members. Just entering the tournament does not guarantee acceptance into the tournament due to limited draw sizes.


5. SR-Level 6 Sectional Tournaments-Most tournaments have a limited draw size and there is a selection process. Priority of entry are as follows:  
        
High Performance Players are:

All players with rankings of 100 or better on the most recent National Standings list in the division in question will be given priority entry to SR-Level tournaments in the division in question.

All players with rankings of 50 or better on the most recent National Standings list in the division one level beneath the division in question will be given priority entry to SR-Level tournaments in the division in question.

A maximum of 3 players ranked in the top 10 on our Middle States most recently published ranked standings list one level beneath the division in question will be given priority entry to level 6 SR tournaments in the division in question.

Sectional Players are:

After the High Performance players described above the first players to access our SR Level 6 tournaments will be the players to be seeded.

The next set of players to be accepted to the SR-Level 6 tournament shall be those players on the list who have applied to a previous SR level 6 in the segment and have been rejected in the same age division as the tournament in question. A segment shall be defined as the four quarters of a year. This would be Jan 1 to March 31st, April 1st to June 30th, July 1st to September 30th and October 1st to December 31st

Then the ranking coordinator shall use the most recently published sectional ranked standings list to select the next players into the SR-Level 6 tournament. This list shall be based on the previous 12-month period and shall include those players who have accumulated one point in the division in question.
 

6. SR-Level 5 and Sectional Championship Level 3&4 Tournaments-Priority of entry is given to the High Performance players described above are selected first.

After the High Performance players described above the first players to access our SR Level 5 tournaments will be the players to be seeded.

The next set of players to be accepted to the SR-Level 5 tournament shall be those players on the list who have applied to a previous SR level 5 in the segment and have been rejected in the same age division as the tournament in question. 7. It is the responsibility of the player to check their email, voicemail, tournament website or call the tournament director to obtain their starting times at least 72 hours before the start of the tournament.


8. Players are responsible to check in 15 minutes before their starting time. Check the draw and report any discrepancies in the draw to the tournament director or referee.


9. Enjoy your match.


10.  Each player should show respect for the tournament, director, referee, officials, opponents, volunteers and spectators at the tournament sites.


11.  Know when it is appropriate to ask for an Official or Referee.
